"The measure of achievement is not winning awards. It's doing something that you appreciate, something you believe is worthwhile. I think of my strawberry souffle. I did that at least twenty-eight times before I finally conquered it." Julia Child

Non-foodie Nugget: Mocha Club
A couple of years ago I went to a concert at Raleigh's Lincoln Theater with the no intention other than to enjoy some Christmas-y music thanks to the talents of Drew Holcomb & the Neighbors and Dave Barnes. What came of that night, though, was much more than that fuzzy Christmas feeling. That night I signed up for Mocha Club.
This organization is loving on Africa in many ways, like bringing in clean water, taking care of orphans and at-risk women, educating those who would otherwise not be, and providing for those who are suffering from HIV/AIDS. The needs are real. And Mocha Club is really meeting those needs.
Sometimes seeing the problems in other parts of the world can be overwhelming, but Mocha Club has created a super-easy way for you to partner with them and one of your favorite music artists, like Lady Antebellum or Parachute, and overcome that overwhelming feeling. How? By signing up, you'll contribute $7/month to the project of your choice. That's it. $7, the cost of a couple of mochas, and you're making a difference. Isn't that awesome?
I chose to partner with Dave Barnes (or David, as I knew him in high school) and his project which is Clean Water. Here's a video of Dave's trip to the Sudan last December...you'll see his heart and his humor:
So how about you? Can you give up 2 mochas and make a difference? I think so...and prepare to be amazed at what $7 can do.
